In efforts to ensure all residents of Wigan Borough are treated fairly, Wigan Council and Wigan and Leigh Housing is giving you the chance to contribute to our new Equality Plan.
Getting involved in our consultation will give you an opportunity to comment on the issues that matter to you – and to help us understand and address the different needs of people living in the Borough.
“By engaging with residents in this way, we aim to produce a new Equality Plan which puts equality at the heart of everything we do,” says Cllr Ged Bretherton, the Council’s Equality and Young People’s Champion.
“Equality is about creating a fairer society where everybody can participate and we all have an opportunity to fulfil our potential. This valuable exercise shows our commitment to meeting people’s needs and responding to their views.”
Help us answer questions such as:
- What’s it like for you living in the Borough?
- Do you think we understand and meet people’s different needs?
- Do you feel that we offer fair and equal access to all our services? If not, what can we do to make it better?
- What needs to change to make life in the Borough fairer?
Come and join us for some lively conversation at one of these events:
- 11 December, 9.30 am to 11.30 am, Westleigh Children’s & Community Centre, Westleigh Lane, Leigh, WN7 5NJ
- 14 December, 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm, Douglas Valley Children’s Centre, Turner Street, Wigan, WN1 3SU
