Pathway To Opportunity

'Sheila Derby, a tenant on the Trees Estate, and other tenants, have asked Wigan and Leigh Housing to support young people living on our estates by guiding them towards gaining training and employment. The company have recently enhanced their successful apprenticeship programme, now known as “pathways” programme. This will now provide training and employment opportunities for up to 30 young people around the borough, at any one time.

Joe, who is a year ten pupil and lives in Worsley Hall, is amongst the first batch of young people to benefit from the “pathways” scheme. He also spent time with me as part of his learning by helping me run the service.

If you know a young person who might benefit from our “Pathways” programme, why not visit the web link below this article. '
