What attracted you to Wigan and Leigh Housing?
The opportunity to experience new things and take on new challenges.

How would you describe your typical working day?
My work is very varied and different. One day I could be strimming grass and making minor repairs to improve the estate. The next I could be dealing with outside agencies and contractors or dealing with a case of fly tipping.

What is the best thing about your work?
I enjoy the variety and the fact that no two days are ever the same. I also enjoy dealing with the general public and solving problems that make a real difference to people’s lives and homes.

What skills or qualifications do you need for your role?
You need to be a good communicator as the role involves talking to a diverse range of people including colleagues, the general public and other agencies. You’ll also benefit from some experience of physical, manual or maintenance work gained in a similar role.

What advice would you give to someone looking for a career in housing?
Go for it. You won’t know how much you’ll enjoy it if you don’t give it a try. I have no regrets and there are so many other opportunities and different jobs within the company.

What are the advantages of working for Wigan & Leigh Housing?
They are very supportive and offer good benefits and many opportunities to develop your skills and career.
