The Council insures your flat against the loss of or damage caused to the buildings. You do not need to take out additional buildings insurance.
Details of the insurance cover are provided in the ‘Statement of Cover – Buildings Insurance’ Booklet. The buildings insurance policy covers the full cost of reconstruction, not the market value.
You should familiarise yourself with the cover provided by the Buildings Insurance arranged by the Council. This Policy does not cover you against every kind of loss, injury or damage that may occur. For example, you may wish to obtain additional cover against theft or accidental damage to the contents of your home. You will need to make your own arrangements for any contents insurance you wish to take out.
