How Properties Are Allocated
The scheme has been based on four key principles:
- Customer choice
- Priority for those in housing need
- Equal access to Council housing for all
- Support for vulnerable people

Advice and assistance
There is free help and advice available at the Property Shops and Area Offices about the Housing Scheme including:
- Help completing your Housing Application Form
- Providing information on how we deal with your application
- How to get references
- Advising you on how to express an interest in homes
- Helping you find a home if you are accepted on the Homefinder

- Advising you of availability of properties in the area you want
- Advice on how to appeal against certain decisions
- Advising you about other options for finding accommodation
