How Properties Are Allocated

The scheme has been based on four key principles:

•  Customer choice 
•  Priority for those in housing need 
•  Equal access to Council housing for all 
•  Support for vulnerable people

Advice and assistance

There is free help and advice available at the Property Shops and Area
Offices about the Housing Scheme including:

• Help completing your Housing Application Form 
• Providing information on how we deal with your application 
• How to get references 
• Advising you on how to express an interest in homes 
• Helping you find a home if you are accepted on the Homefinder
  Scheme 
• Advising you of availability of properties in the area you want 
• Advice on how to appeal against certain decisions 
• Advising you about other options for finding accommodation
