The Housing Support Service aims to provide a high quality housing support service for vulnerable people who require ongoing support in order to maintain an existing Council property or successfully access and set up new accommodation.
Leaving home or moving to new accommodation can be an exciting or frightening experience. Making the decision to live independently can be made easier with the right type of support. Very often vulnerable people do not have the housing support that they need.
The Housing Support Service aims to provide a high quality housing support service for vulnerable people who require ongoing support in order to maintain an existing Council property or successfully access and set up new accommodation.
The Housing Support Team will use all reasonable efforts to provide the right housing support to enable users to achieve the maximum possible independence and by doing so, improve their quality of life and help them to achieve their full potential.
We can help people who are:
- suffering from enduring Mental Health problems
- young people who are 16 - 25 years old
- other vulnerable people faced with homelessness
We can also provide:
- help with moving on to new accommodation
- assistance with benefit claims
- advice on budgeting and/or debt management
- supporting/teaching of housing related life-skills to help establish a successful tenancy
- liaising with agencies working with the individual
- assistance with maintaining a safe property and safe use of appliances
- help with repair issues
- dealing with neighbour disputes/nuisance
- help with settling into the local community
In addition, the Housing Support Team will provide general advice to housing providers on accessing mental health services and services for young people.
