Did You Know?
You may be eligible for free services from your gas and electricity supplier if you are:
- Of pensionable age
- Disabled
- Chronically sick
- Blind or visually impaired
- Deaf or hearing impaired
Free services available include:
- Meter reading
- Moving meters which are difficult to read or reach
- Password scheme to protect against "bogus callers"
- Special controls to make appliances and meters easier to use
- Extra advance notice if your electricity supply has to be interrupted
- Sending your bills to a nominated person who helps you with them
- Cooking and heating facilities if your gas supply is disrupted
- Customer information in a suitable format i.e. Braille, tape, large print
- Suitable facilities so you can make an enquiry if you have special needs
If you think you may be eligible, you can apply to join the Priority Services Register. Simply contact your gas and electricity supplier and ask to join. If you do not know who supplies your gas or electric, you should contact energywatch.
